I mentioned this one a few months ago, but for buyers of domestic releases
(and in the future, imports), the best place I've found is 1-800 EveryCD
(http://www.everycd.com). You pay a $40-per-year membership fee (no limits
or required purchases) and get near wholesale prices (Maurizio, Porter
Ricks were $11.99, the big recent major-label releases are about the same,
releases on most indie labels are $9-$10, and a lot of older catalogue
items [jazz, rock, etc.] are in the $8-$9 range). The best part is the
selection: EveryCD can get =every= CD, that is, in-print items from all but
the most completely obscure labels. Browsable catalogue, helpful but quite
clueless staff; it's saved me some $$ in the past few months... (No, I'm
