I know what you mean. I can't say I'm certain, but the context of many emails I've read about the Gescom minidisc suggested that ... well, not that folks necessarily bought the player specifically for this release, but that it was the, for lack of a better comparison, "killer app" that convinced them to make a decision that, in other circumstances, they may have made at a later date.
