no, i'm trying to tell you that eminem is a product of poverty and to a
lesser extent drug use. he speaks on what he is. he's being honest with
people and with himself. so he wrote about killing his baby's mom. how
many people in the world do you think about killing their baby's mom?
belive it or not, loads. maybe it's an form of venting.
would you rather he rap about his benz and rolex?

how is it that he is a joke? what's so funny? he may be PERCIVED as a
joke, but he's just doing what he's been doing for years. suddenly he goes
platinum and it's a joke.

>i may not be too familiar with

then why are you arguing about it? why make such a blanket statement as
'let me assure you, he's not saying _anything_ important.' when you've
probably heard no more than one or two of his songs. for all you know, the
album could be a revolutionary piece of art (which it's not, fyi, but it is
worth a listen or two)

>whatever
>"skills" he has are completely lost on me.

that's because, aside from the fact that you've heard hardly any of his
music, you also probably know little to nothing about hip hop. have you
ever tried to write a rhyme? freestyle? it's tough. eminem has "skills",
in that he can do both those well, something that most people can't.
regardless of content, just to be able to do this well is something to
respect.
