The real reason that MTV completely bites isn't that they hardly play
music, and when they do, it sucks. It's that MTV is awaer of and
recognizes talent, so you'll hear, say, 12 seconds of a Scanner song with
some trippy little computer animations and an MTV logo during commercials.
My younger sister (she's 17) watches MTV just about every day, so I've
gotten intimately familiar with every popular Korn and Limp Bizkit song
being played right now, since I hear them every day when I wake up, and
when I come home from classes. Every few weeks I'll sit down and watch it
with her, just to see if MTV is doing anything interesting. The week
before last, I saw a brief MTV station ID clip with a Boards of Canada song
playing. The imagery was just these dots moving around a background, it
looked like a Flash animation on some web page. It was actually pretty
cool; stylish visual stuff going on, BoC playing. I could like MTV if it
were like that all the time. Then it stopped and they started playing a No
Doubt song where the singer of No Doubt Goes Raving(tm).
If MTV were just stupid, it would be one thing. Knowingly peddling dumb
music is just annoying.
Oh well, who cares about MTV.

I wish I had some new music purchases to review from my trip to Berkeley
yesterday, but I don't. I went into the city and stopped by Ameoba
briefly. I got Gorgoroth's _Antichrist_ cd, but it's not very topical to
the list, and it was a disappointing cd anyway.

        True Northern IDM forever!
