1. new freeform : not nearly as good as _pattern tub_. closer to his tongue-in-cheek overbusy stuff on the worm interface comps and the MAS single. three or so amazing tracks and the rest had me skipping through. 2. new panasonic/pan sonic : WOW! i've never been much of a fan, mostly because of the boom-boom factor and the fact that they seemed to rely on just a little too little to get at what they were getting at. this new one, though, is just the right mix of structure and minimalism to my ears, with the perfect index of abstraction. i just picked this up today and i've already listened to it three times. actually quite pole-like, for them what asked, but in a cleanroom instead of an echoplex. 3. ian o'brien/ferox : somebody asked what's been up with ferox, and then somebody else mentioned fusion's excellent "funk at five." here's a review i did of this: http://www.urbansounds.com/archives/us_dec_97/us_electro_fusion.html 4. finally, i picked up the first release in raster's _20 to 2000_ series, by raster's own komet. very similar to the above-described pan sonic, actually, and beautiful in its own right. very cool sort of clear clamshell packaging as well...i can't wait to hear each of these! thanks, sc
