Hey, anyone want a good laugh? I was just surfing (okay more like slugging) around the Web today and found this website for Torley Wong, he seems to have ties to IDM (he calls his music "Orchestral Techno/Intelligent Dance Music") but that's not the real kicker. The REAL kicker is the fact that he has a REALLY amusing remix (sort of, you'll find out) of Aphex Twin's "Boy/Girl Song" named "Boy Loses Girl Song"... If you want to know what it sounds like, well, it takes that plucked string part in the beginning and weaaves it in with Robert Milesish piano melodies (really cheesy but what's wrong with cheese?), a bassline kind of like Underworld's "Jumbo", airy sine wave squiggle melodies, Vangelis kind of ambience, and, get this, a middle section that sounds to me like it was influenced by hip-hop stuff. It doesn't sound like it should work but it does quite nicely, and it's FUNNY!!!! Also on the website is a really hyped up (makes sense with Phantom Menace right?) remix of one of the familiar tunes from Star Wars (not the title theme) called "Techno Jedi Master", which is good clean fun too. His original stuff, while quite commercial (read: accessible to electronic newbies), is good too tho. But if you want experimental, the one "iveySeena862" track is good. Diverse range of stuff.
