Hmmm...you're welcome to your opinion, but in the UK, you can't have a live
set of drum&bass without an MC -- it would be like drinking tea without milk!
MC's in drum & bass come out of the Hip Hop/Dance Hall MC tradition.
Part of the reason that dancefloor style drum and bass has long sections
of just bassline and snares is to leave room for the MC to do his thing.

A good drum and bass MC knows how to hype the crowd, and when to shut up.
An MC that toasts over a vocal should get the gong. An MC that can't
come up with original freestyles likewise.

While there are a few good MCs in the US, for the most part they are kids
imitating what they hear on tapes from the UK. And as Mark Twain said,
"It's better to remain silent and appear a fool than to open your mouth
and remove all doubt."
