London Beats - The Very Best Of Jumpin' & Pumpin'
CDB TOT 1

This four-CD box set chronicles Britain's Jumpin' & Pumpin' label,
which is probably best known among idm readers as the original home of
Future Sound Of London. The tracks are taken from various releases
throughout the years 1990-1995. A lot of it is incredibly cheesy with
air horns, opera samples, hoover synths, piano stabs and all the other
played out rave tricks of the early 90's. Fortunately the cheesy
stuff works, for me, on the level of nostalgia.

The FSOL selection is a little wack, concentrating mainly on tracks
which are easily obtainable elsewhere. The only really new-to-CD
tracks are "I'm Not Gonna Let You Do It" and "Zip Code". For spotters
the FSOL tracks are:

Papua New Guinea
Tingler (remix)
I'm Not Gonna Let You Do It
Creator (mislabled as "Bring In The Pulse")
Expander (remix)
Humanoid (Smart Systems remix)
People Livin' Today (med mix)
Moscow (remix)
Owl
Coda Coma
Bite The Bullet Baby
Zip Code (stress ball mix)

Despite that, this is a pretty neato comp, with a lot of cheese, a
smattering of slightly rare FSOL, and some generally decent dance
tracks. I picked it up for $18, which you have to admit is a pretty
sweet deal for four discs.
