Stringers are 100% polyphonic and are certainly a stop-gap poly with a single envelope and a single top octave generator. They have this distinct sound reminiscent of the best of 1970s horror films that I have a strong affinity for. A lot of broke-ass trashy 80s bands that are now popular (at least in the t-shirt scene) used them too. I like a lot of this too. I have a really hard time synthesizing this sound. Even though I can get it with the Elkorus, its a clunky solution for a simple problem. The real thing is easy and immediate. Some of the Crumars took the concept pretty close to synthesizer land on the cheap. ie) Multiman-S The last Hohner stringer has the ability to get pretty big. Stringers are cool. ps: Bach wrote the well tempered clavier stuff for 61 keys and I think his uncle used 52 keys (not too sure about this last factoid) On 09.02.18 18:40 , Marshall Craig wrote: > Question- why have a string machine, when you can have an analog(-ish) > poly?
