Solvet (Suction003) 13 tracks, a really good amount of sound on one cd ( I hate short cds!!) = The simple for beautiful melodies leave me waiting for more to evolve. = As the compositioons unfold, what are for me unexpected twists are taken = in the layering of melodies and harmonies. Jason Amm has a rare talent = for restraint, he seems to understands how to give more with less and = when to really lay it on thick. One such example is ice-bag scale, = probably my favorite track. It really blows all the drilling your head = wanker d&b away with its brilliant sense of jerky syncopation and = slammin funk. As it all begins to pile on a bit thick, little abstract = melodies start to meander in and offset the harsness, but not quite. The = MS 20 noodeling is fresh. The Jupiter makes happy sounds. But the genius = on this record is in the arrangment and production of the compositions. = It's refreshing to hear music that has a sense of sonic expansiveness, = Where conflicting sounds are allowed to contrast each other without = resolution. Solvent is not bent on perfection or soothness via subdueing = hues, the smoothness is affected through thoughtful composition. Really = imaginative and experimental. The melodies are sweet and honest, really refreshing in childlike = idealism. They make me very happy:)) My other favorites are shift uncle giggles, stretchy legs and arms, = googly eyes and nuf si gnippiks for its heavy metal rockin sound; ACDC = be damned!! The only comment I would say that is remotely negative is that this is = his first album and sounds like it, the debut full length from an artist = I have no doubt will continue to expand and grow. It covers 3 years of = growth, but "polish" is the only hint you have to which are the later = works, he has been consitantly straightforward in style and substance.
