since someone asked... the strom 12" (max kahlen "uhrwerk") is fairly nice stuff that isn't too far removed from brinkmann's "chick series" of 12"s, with less texture and a more monotonous rhythmic presence. i'm sure lance mcG could give a better description (and probably already has at this point - curse the eternal lag of the idm-digest subscriber). but...does anyone know what the hell mannequin lung sounds like? everytime i go to the record store, their LP gets all up in my face like "buy me, muhfuh!" and i'm all like "i don't KNOW you, man." and what about solvent? hep me! christina ricci is a junkie skank. not IMHO, but the absolute gospel truth. i'm currently listening to the daktaris "soul explosion" album. nice stuff, big fat funk provided on an organic (non-electronic) basis in the tradition of james brown or (i'm told) fela kuti. hot shit! also picked up the gilberto gil _cerebro electronico_ cd (phillips japan); not as hot-shit crazy wack cool as gal costa's cd, but some nice moments (esp. _2001_). i'm waiting for the os mutantes reissues... anyways, i'm out like nathan lane; [gr] "just call me maximillian..." ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
