Ello... As you kiddies can probably guess, I'm new to this list.. and although I generally don't go through all the sappy bullshite of jumping around waving my hands (and ignorance) in the air for all to see, I figured (since this was my *first*.. ahh) you'd like to see the new guy ramble alittle about what makes him tik. I'm not a DJ, I'm more of a voyeurist in that field... but I purchase large amounts of vinyl to infuse my mind with the fodder it needs to create what I absorb (i.e. I write trax). I hate the prodigy and all that cock-rok shit, but oddly I like richard james and Cari Lekebusch... humm how odd my world is. Welp, I see your all vastly enthralled in all my witty banter, so I'll cut the inane chit-chat and get to-> >Yet more reviews... ok... Type of Print: Collective comp.. EP.. Label: 21/22 Corp. Cat. #: 1207 (nitrogen) Record name: Trace Ele.ments 3 (promo) Artists: SIDE 1 Planetary [D. Curtin], T & M [Titonton Duvante & Morgan Geist], SIDE 2 DAC Crowell [DACC], Nu-Era [?] Distributed: 7th City, Detroit Well, I was very excited when Mr. Luna, one of the founding father of the collective, dropped this hot piece of wax in my hands at the 'promotional' party held, in part, for its release. Upon laying it down on my decks though, I came away rather disenchanted. The divergence in style that the others two compilations possessed struck a deeper cord within me, fore they truly represented the city that spawned them (Columbus). This release is more cohesive, which I'm sure will make the masses happy as it never really veers into anything 'tEkNo-E' or 'X-perimental'. Instead it amounts to a compilation of 4 similar sounding, moody.. melodic oriented house tracks (6am early morning techno house to be exact) which necessarily isn't a bad thing, just not MY thing (dissonance is my life's blood.. give me Ventolin anyday =). If your "down" with more laid back melodic/ soul inspiring intelligent DANCE tracks, then by all means pick this up.. I'm sure you will be happy and your money will be going to help support an amazing group of kiddies that are one of the few that are still trying to "keep it real" (if you don't know what I mean, check out http://ele-mental.coil.com and see for yourself ;). If not, then... o0o[qiB.]o0o
