OSYMYSO=20 Welcome To The Pailindrome=20 SP031 (cd) A bucket of weird fun. 25 year old Mark Nicholson enjoys anything subversive and quirky. A big fan= =20 of the kitsch genre, Mark's music, released under the twinkly pseudonym=20 Osymyso, is a cross between a Japanese advert and B-Boy electronica. His=20 releases, including his most recent on Spiky Records, have won him friends= =20 in high places. Mary Ann Hobbs, Annie Nightingale, Richard Fearless and Mr.= =20 Scruff have all shared his brand of techno with the listeners. Mark is chatty and happy, cool and quirky with a character that is=20 thoughtful yet armed to the hilt with dry wit. And so is his music. (Dazed= =20 and Confused) The NME on his "Eye Q" release (Spiky):=20 Imagine, if you dare, Yul Brynner's siamese offspring in The King And I=20 ripped to the tits on Jungle speed while attempting a kareoke version of=20 the Goons' 'Ying Tong Song"=85 The Melody Maker on "Peter and the Wolf" (Hansome):=20 F**ed up and freaked out epic mixture of beatz, electro mechanix and=20 ambience with a malevolent streak that's calmed when some luxurious strings= =20 arrive to tow it through the final passages. Strange but seductive and, if= =20 you've lasted through that, wait 'till you flip over. FARMERS MANUAL=20 No Backup=20 MEGO008CD=20 Long overdue reissue of the debut full length cd from FM. Nine mad tripped= =20 (but not hopped) pieces with the additional bonus in the shape of (well) a= =20 surreal CD Rom which no one really gets, but never mind. Deeply disturbing= =20 and strangely entertaining ...=20 FARMERS MANUAL is absolutely some of the most cutting edge experimental=20 abstract techno and sound sculpture to surface on disc!
