This record is funny. Of course, I thought that the last record was funny, too, though somewhat tryingly repetitive. "Yeah Right" is on Geist records, is this related to DHR?? This new 2LP release has slightly shorter tracks, but with all of the signature, non-filtered digi-drums that slightly distort and scrape along in quirky shuffles. This is more in-your-face electro-swing with vibrato-y synth-boings: great stuff if you are already into it (I am, but I can understand the weak-hearted not grooving to this stuff ;-P but it is really as more nutritious fiber than the pop-retro stuff, imho ) !There is a deadpan cover of "Legs" (by ZZ Top) on side two that is a crackup in its fake guitar and noisyness and the fact that it is such a straight cover...! This particular stripper favorite (the original ZZ Top of course) is just in time for the local community radio benefit I am mixing at in a STRIP CLUB. Fun! That cover plus "Girls On Stage" (Kit Builders on Electrecord) are probably the electro features most appropriately done. For anyone in the Portland, OR, area; this event is 4:30-9:00pm at 129 SW Broadway (downtown) at Mary's Club and all tips go to KBOO. (plug) Also attempted will be Cylob breaks beatmatched to Bruce Springsteen, James Brown, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash (With Noises(tm)), and plenty of old Heavy Metal (recent idm thread connects here). Oh, also "The 15th" by Wire. BION! also bringing portable sampler for canned applause, beercan-opening sounds and such. C'mon down, guest appearance by Vive Las Vegas!
