Phoenecia are new to me, although they've apparently been around under
numerous guises for ages. Just taking 'Randa Roomet' on its own, it
sounds very similar to Autechre's 'Incunabula'. Beats made out of
noises, LFO'd analogue sounds whipped up into loops, etc. If you like
Autechre, you'll like this.

Broadcast are an entirely different kettle of fish and, like Red
Snapper, aren't your typical Warp group (female-fronted five-piece).
If you want comparisons, then imagine a hybrid of Stereolab, St.
Etienne, Salad and Komeda. 'Work and Non Work' is a collection of
three EPs ('Accidentals', 'Living Room' and 'The Book Lovers') that
Broadcast previously released on Duophonic (Stereolab's home turf).
Definitely not IDM -- more a kind of dubbed-up psychedelic kitsch --
but I like this sort of music anyway, so I had no problems adding it
to my collection of Warp goodies. Nice dense, textured production
though.
