You mean Aphex was the tall droid in Empire Strikes Back?

Back on topic - can anybody point out any IDM acts that improvise heavily
while on stage? The few bands that pop up in my town often play carbon
copies of their pressed music. But before I start slagging the "genre",
I figured some feedback would be nice. I'm sure (hoping) there are many
... Much talk is made of the "jazz" influence some artists flaunt, so
I'm wondering how they apply its lessons (i.e. Carl Craig's Innerzone
Orchestra - does their live performance mutate and develop differently
every night?). I'd love to find out - perhaps this can convince me to
travel more to live dates.
