You probably want a Sony R50 or Sharp 722. They are both very good portable recorders. I have a Sony R55 which I'm very happy with. It's basically the same as the R50 but is MUCH smaller. And I think the R55 is only available in Japan right now.... Like someone else said, http://www.minidisc.org is a great resource. They have specs on every unit ever made.
