I'll post a review when the musique >concrete dust settles, but 'til then there's been articles on Henry in >Vox and The Wire recently which are pretty interesting. Apparently, he I came upon a copy of this record over the summer, and I thought it was, to say the least, a total piece of shit. William Orbit's mix had some really interesting stereo effects, but nothing else was at all worthwhile. This could, of course, stem from the fact that Psyche Rock is a totally worthless piece of music. Same lame chord progression that is used by, say, George Thorogood (try singing "Wild Thing" over Psyche Rock. It works), and even though I know Henry did it before good old George, Pachelbel did it some couple of hundred years earlier. And it sucked then, too. Getting everything out of the way in one post, I'll semi-agree with the person who posted the rave review of not breathing... I wasn't too impressed by the full-length album Sangre Azul (good, but not great) but the 20 minute synth workout on Drug Test Vol. 1 (invisible's live tour release) is to die for... Also some stuff from tapes I've heard beat the shit out of most of Sangre Azul, and I understand the new Not Breathing vs. Dead Voices on Air to be quite excellent. However, I have not had a chance to judge for myself yet. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto
