(idm) SKAM001, sorry for the thread, folks

Well, I seemed to have started a bit of a thread with the whole SKAM001 thing.
Sorry for those that begrudge *me* for doing my broke friend a favor.
He's broke, has a SKAMPLER and knows the hunger of the drooling record
collector.
This morning's highest bid is $250.00
I will close the bid today.

He has gathered *many* more items including several super rare Aphex pieces.
I will post these next week.

Is there some place where these hyper-inflated prices are mentioned? Like
"Goldmine" or some obscure 'Net auction site?
I probably have a lot of the aforementioned stuff just gathering dust, because
I'm completely out of that loop. Can I sucker some rivethead kid into taking
my TG "United" 7" (with camo pic sleeve bag) for $300? :-) (Damn, now I'll
have to go kill my dog for destroying my original Cosey Fanni Tutti "Time To
Tell" cassette ... :-( )
What's my "Ambiant Otaku" going for nowadays, anyway? :-)
Agreed, but modulo the packaging. For example, I'd bit on a Joyrex J9i
because of the tracks *and* the packaging. On the other hand, I think the
one-sided AFX "Falling Free" remix of Curve isn't worth the packaging (i.e.,
one-sided, plain record, no pic sleeve, etc.) so I'm happy to have it on a
CD-WO burn. (Thanks and a tip 'o the hat to Ian)

Though Goldmine does have a bit of coverage on the electronic
collectibility tip,
the market ( at least to me ) is based on *many* factors: collector magazines,
record fairs, record stores ( both the reasonably priced ones and the more
realistic ones),
general record geek conversations, online stores, online auctions and lo
and behold, this list.

1st TG single in the bag?: about 20- 50 bucks max unless it's the clear or
white vinyl copies
which fetch 40-100

The Cosey tape?: I've seen it as high as 50 bucks, ridiculous for a tape.

Otaku?: 50-200, though 100-150 is a common price.

"Falling Free": I dunno. I just can't keep up with Aphex prices.

ps: the most I've ever seen a collector pay for *1* record is $2,500.00
This was a friend of mine who collects prog/psych/kraut
It was a Spanish prog record limited to 20 copies.

Oh well, I'd settle for a tape but to each his/her own.

Cheers,

Peter

ps: on the whole collector thing, if you live in the NYC area and have never
gone to a WFMU record fair, you are truly missing out. It will be held on
April 11th this year. I will post details. Next to the Austin fair, it's
the biggest
and the best ( at least in the U.S. ). I'll be there gouging all the
collectors.
