Here's a series of mini-reviews i thought i'd paste to a few mailing lists for your info.. more coming soon! // -- . ML :: Everyone Looks Like Somebody Else (n5MD) CD . Pellarin :: Tangible Abstractions (Couchblip!) CD . Vim! :: Linden - Home of the Hits (Surgery) CD . Aspects of Physics :: Systems of Social Recalibration (Imputor?) CD . Full Swing :: [Edits Comp.] (Orthlorng Musork) CD . AGF :: Head Slash Bauch (Orthlorng Musork) CD // --ML :: Everyone Looks Like Somebody Else (n5MD) >> www.n5md.com & www.mltronic.com (SF, USA) Laird Sheldahl, Tanner Volz, and Rian Callahan are known as ML and their debut full-length on n5MD incorporates skewed layers of harsh electro, beautiful glitch-electronics and an aura of funky- ambient experimentations that is unique & creative (often at the same time). D::N Highlights: 3, 9, 10, 16 // --Pellarin :: Tangible Abstractions (Couchblip!) >> www.couchblip.com & www.pellarin.couchblip.com (South, AU) Raw electronic minimalism that punches a hole into your bassbins with relative ease. Lars Pellarin (Danish producer) has recently recorded his debut with Couchblip! emphasizing the obscure and sizzling side of minimal electronics. Totally effective and well worth the rotation. D::N Highlights: 5, 6, 9 // --Vim! :: Linden - Home of the Hits (Surgery) >> www.surgeryrecords.com.au (Adelaide, AU) "Vim! is Keith Baylis, an underground artist who has been wowing demo collectors for years. Here he presents a heady blend of nostalgia, fractured beats and classic video-game stylings. Tinny synths rise and tumble down melodic scales, while flimsy drums struggle not to be steam-rolled by massive bass rumblings." --Sub:Strata. D::N Highlights: 1, 6, 13, 17 // --Aspects of Physics :: Systems of Social Recalibration (Imputor?) >> www.imputor.com & www.aspectsofphysics.com (SD, USA) 8-Bit electro brushed up against indie-electronic minimalism that has an entirely warm feel even with the abrupt beats, cold basslines and subtle guitar licks molding this album together perfectly. San Diego based Imputor? Records knows how to feed peoples ears with distorted electrical beauty and Aspects of Physics redefines that characteristic. D::N Highlights: 1, 3 // --Full Swing :: [Edits Comp.] (Orthlorng Musork) >> www.musork.com (SF, USA) This abstract electronic 'Edits' compilation invites several well recognized minimal electricians to remix tracks from Full Swing. Ranging from microscopic ambience to gritty waves of sonic-debris, 'Edits' highlights the void where silent rumbles of ambience intermingle with peculiar rhythms. Kit Claytons' Orthlorng Musork label is a fine curator of such minimalistic grooves. D::N Highlights 1, 4, 8 // --AGF :: Head Slash Bauch (Orthlorng Musork) >> www.musork.com (SF, USA) Antye Greie-Fuchs (AGF) has collaborated with Vladislav Delay (Mille Plateaux) on a recent project called AGF/Dlay. 'Head Slash Bauch' is "an amalgamation of clear-as-water stream of consciousness pronunciations and some static-led electronic emissions" --Boomkat.com. Meant to satisfy those with an appeal to tangled ambient/electrical-glitches. // -- Pietro. // // -- DIGITAL::NIMBUS :: exp.electronic RADIO friday night mid-3am (pst) kuci 88.9 fm // -- www.kuci.org & www.digitalnimbus.com // -- p.o. box 443, orange, california, 92856 // -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: xxx-xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx For additional commands, e-mail: xxx-xxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx
