Re: [AH] Which overdrive pedal for TB-303?

I had a Sovtek Big Muff Pi and ended up selling it because I didn't
like it sounded with any of my synths. But I hadn't tried Tomislav's
approach, which is really smart. I didn't like the ProCo Rat, either.
I thought they were both too ugly sounding. I'd probably like them
more, now.
I like the Boss HM-2 because it can give a big, round boost, like a
compressor; it has EQ to dial the bass in and keep it in; and it
wildly accentuates the resonant frequency of the 303, making it sound
like a nightmare beast on the attack. You can be a little subtle with
it, but it works best "dimed" - everything up to 10. I always liked
the sound on the Cluster label (the UK label, not the German band,
which I like, too), e.g. D.A.V.E. the Drummer and Chris Liberator, and
I felt the HM-2 got me that powerful sound. I thought it sounded a bit
like Hardfloor, too, but I think they actually used a Rat.
No google was used in the making of this post, so I might have my facts wro=
ng :)
