for another recommendation in that vein, check out the new Organized
Konfusion, "The Equinox."  really sparse, hard beats, tight production,
good rhymes.  no overproduced bullshit.  and from "this" side of the
hip-hop/trip-hop divide (i don't mean that very seriously), check out the
new Andre Gurov (dj vadim) on Jazz Fudge, "the sound of a new rap
language."  really really dark.  something like some of Req's tracks,
maybe, but much sharper-sounding.  snaredrums that hurt.  and a couple of
effective raps, too.

as for the return of the dj comps...they're both good.  i like #2 better, i
think, but no particular reason (and #1 has bigger names, i believe).  i
recommend.
