the theft was from schematic, not warp or skam. what makes it vague is
that it happened in the transfer of operations of schematic from seven
(who currently owns and operates chocolate industries) to romulo and
joshua (of phoenecia, metic, jeswa, etc.). according to the latter, the
former was still receiving schematic mail after the label had been
transferred, and that the tape with the remix (to have been used on a
forthcoming schematic remix ep) arrived in seven's hands instead of
theirs. who knows what the whole truth is, but i think the breach was more
ethical than legal. regardless, this list's silence on the question is
still surprising.

this criticism rests on the presumption that the response or engagement
"proper" to music is emotional, and does not serve one well
in the context of terre's music (nor, i would argue, in the context of
much experimental music)...it's interesting how we continue to look for
stable, objective ground upon which to rest our opinions of the music
discussed on this list when it's precisely that strategy mainstream
culture has continually animated to devalue it.
