this is actually a remix of the shango track on "product of the
environment." quite nice, and you can mix back and forth pretty
much all day with the a2 track on the orange kandis on karaoke kalk. the
original is also super. busted beats and a dynamic density rarely found,
except perhaps on the latest bob holroyd freakout.

there's a track on this comp called "black russian" that communicates with
the parallax effect ed pond was talking about, where acquiring a different
rhythmic frame of reference can completely change the aesthetics of a
track. along these same lines, "daydream" from "product of the
environment" is a different track every time i listen to it. tony thorpe
is great (lately...hrm) with these sorts of tracks that consciously
_avoid_ having an identifiable rhythmic anchor point. somehow, the way he
does it is different than the way plaid, atom heart, o.s.t., et al use
odd time sigs to get away from a loopy structure.
