I can't believe no one's mentioned Tom Waits.... Here are a few choice Tom Waits break-down-and-cry songs (although not electronic by any stretch, much of his work is amazing lo-fi, analogue, beautiful, clangy music) Who Are You Now Dirt in the Ground Whistle down the wind Ruby's Arms Jersey Girl Time Cold cold ground Tom Traubert's Blues (Four sheets to the wind in Copenhagen) and about 15 other songs I can't name right now.... Tom Waits is AMAZING and the best lyricist I have ever heard, IMhO. Oh, here are some doleful electronic tracks as well: anything off woob 1194 latneiro by journeyman (aka woob) pulusha - isolationism argh, why can't I think of any others?
