I actually paid for Audiocatalyst from Xing (www.xingtech.com) which
combines the audiograbber program with the latest Xing mpeg decoder, which
corrects some shortcomings of the earlier version, and adds a variable
bitrate encoder. I'm no golden ears, but the variable encoder sounds really
good to me, and generates smaller files than a fixed rate encoder.

The program is super easy to use, and can rip entire CDs in a fraction
of the time it takes to play them if you have a fast computer. And it
can also rip to WAV files (for sampling) and encode WAV files as well.
Not a bad deal for $30. I will say that the installation is kind of
annoying in that you have to interact with Xing's web server to get it
installed. Better to pay for it (you're honest, right?) and then search
for the key generator program to make your serial #. And no, I won't
send you the key gen.
