As far as record shops go, you've already had the core advice: Berwick Street (Sister Ray, Selectadisc, Ambient Soho/Worm Interface, Reckless [for secondhand]), Rough Trade (Covent Garden & off Portobello Road, though the latter shop is more poorly organised than the former). I quail to think of the amount of cash I've injected into those shops...

There are also the secondhand shops in Notting Hill, though they're somewhat expensive (£13 for a 2ndhand copy of a new non-rare release, but they drop the price every so often) -- you can find some good stuff, but it's not as good as Reckless. They also have a branch on Berwick Street.

It's been aaaaages since I've been clubbing, but the Old Street/Hoxton area is pretty good (many good pre-club bars, plus the 333 Club, with the Scala and Turnmills nearby). I can make more specific recommendations via offlist email.

HTH.
