the first record I remeber owning was 'the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald'
on 45. I'm blocking out the name of the artist. what a piece of crap. I
think the first 'electronic' piece of vinyl I bought (not counting brian
eno) was the aphex twin 'on' ep, at tower records in DC. I had no idea
what it was, but I liked the artwork. I listened to it once and put it
away for a few years. recent purchases (yesterday):

1..v/a - beat classics 3LP (dc recordings) holy shit. found a copy of
this at juno records in the UK & paid about 17 quid for it (7 of that for
shipping to the US) but it's totally worth it.
2..boredoms - super roots 6
3..nurse with wound - soliloquoy for lilith
4..afx - AB4
5..cassiber - live in tokyo (w/ remix disk by ground zero) I can't say I
care much for the live disk - the music is ok but the vocals are supremely
irritating, even if it is thomas pynchon quotes. the remix disk is very
tasty however, and it's the last ground zero project.

on another note, does anyone on the list who works at a college radio
station have any recommendations for getting promo copies of IDM stuff?
most euro-labels aren't too responsive to my pleas.
