(idm) Re: DJ Hell, brinkmann, schmickler, samplers

so I'll now answer my own question about the new DJ Hell album, as it
arrived in the mail later that day. I couldn't even listen to it all the
way through - bad disco indeed. I might have found it tolerable were it
not for the insufferably stupid vocal bits. now for sale on consignment
at my local vinyl shoppe. fortunately, the same package also contained
the Summer DSP 10" and the Hawtin/Brinkmann Concept 1:VR 2xLP, both of
which lived up to their reputations (via this list) as fine pieces of
noddy minimalism.

being a big fan of the last pluramon release, I also recently picked up
the wabi sabi 12" on a-musik (which is excellent) & am impatiently
awaiting the marcus schmickler acid 12" on max ernst or whichever
brinkmann label it's on. I'm tempted to check out some of brinkmann's own
releases, but I haven't been that impressed by the realaudio snippets I've
heard - can't remember exactly which tracks it was. can anyone suggest a
good place to start? I remember Inge/Jutte getting some props here.

also am on the lookout for a good sampler under $1000. Any suggestions?
I'm mainly interested in using it for live performance sans midi, so some
sort of user friendly front panel interface is essential. SCSI would also
be nice. we've been using an old roland MS-1, but its limitations are
showing.
