I think saying he was using AI is a bit of a stretch. They are using algorithms that analyze a sample file and it tries to replicate it by running a ton of random SysEx MIDI controls and sampling them to see if they match. This isn't an Artificial Intelligence. I see they use Artificial Evolution in that article which sounds like a perfectly cromulent word. All the final choices are done by a human, you still have to sift through all the new patches it made overnight.
