The fact that this was being put on by RITUAL Events almost caused me not to go, but I'm glad I did. Riz played an excellent set that accompanied a film full of Blade Runner Clips. Kinda made me think of the days when movies had no sound and a pianist was upstage peforming music to fit the tunes. Same thing really, just modern day sounds. The music she performed seemd right on time with each sequence. Her music started off with recognizeable tunes from the two Neotropic LPs and then some dude starting singing a tune that is on the Mr. Strawberry whatever it's called Album. From there she began singing and the music got quite beatless. I wasn't into everything she played but very impressed I was. Pole performed a few tunes NOT on either of his two CDs Pole 1/2 and theyhad quite an ammount of melody we don't hear on the previous releases. Good stuff, kept my attention. Unfortunately his attention wasn't there cuz his set was very short when compared to Riz. Met a good # of IDM'ers at the gig tonite. Esp AMY MERRIT who used to post a SHITLOAD on the list. She's gone into hiding or lurkmode. Not a groundbreaking nite or anything, but worth the price of admission (Even for RITUAL EVENS) cuz the music was excellent. They finally had a decent sound system as well. Furthermore, for my fandom, I found the contract Ritual Events and POLE/Neotropic's managers had to sign. Wierd piece of memoribillia to have I guess. Lots of stupid details including how many soda's Ritual Event agreed to supply the performers with.... blah it's fun to look at:) gilly ps: if you're affiliated with Ritual Events, you can still F off and no I ain't giving your legal document back.
