I finally dug up and scanned my Matmos vs. Lesser pictures from when I saw them in New York at Mondo Kim's, July 19, 1999. Here are the two shots: http://www2.crosswinds.net/~sinewave/nyc99/nyc99_13.jpg http://www2.crosswinds.net/~sinewave/nyc99/nyc99_2.jpg Matmos and Lesser played an amazing set of experimental ambient, with some rough breaks that would coalesce out of noise and disappear back again, with random interjections from a cd player. Gear I spotted included two sampling keyboards on the far right, with the guy (sorry, don't know his name) frantically switching floppy discs and spinning the data wheel, a Roland SH-101 monosynth and Mac laptop (I'd guess MAX/MSP) in the middle next to the mixer, and I believe Jay Lesser on the end with a Roland R8 drum machine, Pioneer CD-DJ box, Peavey PC-1600x fader box (probably for controlling the laptop), and some rack gear on the floor I couldn't see. All in all a great set which left me wishing for more. nick rejack
