(idm) music just keeps getting more interesting

This has nothing to do with IDM, but fuck it. All y'all owe it to yourself
to check out Tom Ze's latest album, "Com Defeito de Fabricacao" (Luaka Bop).
For those that don't know, Ze was involved with the Tropicalia movement in
the 60s, writing social-protest pop music that stood out for its nonsense
lyrics and innovative approach to sound (he made many of his own instruments
out of industrial scraps, doorbells, etc.).

His new album, which I'm 1/3 of the way through my first listen, continues
where he left off, picking up to include sampling, looped breaks, even
oval-like glitch ambiance, all set in service of totally hypnotic brazillian
pop.

Luaka Bop is also releasing a remix project of Ze featuring Amon Tobin, John
McEntire, Sasha Frere-Jones, Sean Lennon & the High Llamas; and Ze will be
touring with Tortoise.

I've also been told by someone at Luaka Bop that the first 2 Tom Ze CDs are
woefully out of print, so if you see them, buy on sight. Especially that
first one (sorry, don't remember the title -- think it was a Brazil Classics
vol. 4 though), it's amazing.
