Apart from basic functionality they could have been given completely different names and be made by two different companies. Eno may well have liked the EQ on the older desk. It's interesting about the distortion aspect of the CR1604. The mic amps are very different on the VLZ - but the original desk only has mic amps on the first six channels. I wonder whether people liked the overloaded sound on the 7 to 12 inputs as much? Tony www.oakleysound.com
