Yeah, the steam engine was great (when it went off, every hour or so,
was the only time in the day that lots of people moved in the same
direction!), in fact the whole place was great for a gig, very surreal
moving around all these artefacts of the industrial revolution and
coming across electronic music!

Personally, i found their set extremely dull and disapointing too much
playing with an effects unit and not enough Surgeon (in fact i wondered
if they had bothered to turn his gear on at all!)

Yeah, this was nice, squarepusher vs the steam engine!

I felt the same, i think i was trying very hard to enjoy their set, and
at a couple of points i got into it (sounded really complex/intricate at
times) but generally very, very Autechre!! (what are they doing when
they play live, it doesn't seem to bear any relationship to what you can
hear, i get the feeling i'm being duped by their 'live' performance :
i'm probably wrong though!!)

Highlights for me included Andrea Parker(?) playing NWA, and who were
those two blokes playing along to a backing tape outside, one on a
xylophone and one on an accordian, they were good.

In the end, i gave up on trying to follow the playlists and just
wandered around, staying somewhere until i wanted to go somewhere else!!

All in all i had a very nice day :))

Mark.
