hi idmers, last night as i skimmed through the 2nd global goon lp (pink girl on cover) i thought to myself "this has got to be the aphex twin!" it sounds like what would have been the softer side of richard james from 1993-1995 the tracks also sounded older than the first "goon" lp any theories on this? is it DEFINATELY NOT rdj or just maybe his supposed ex-roomate? i also had a quick listen to afx's 'hangable auto bulb' 1 and i thought to call the whole schematic, choc ind.,MAS worm interface..movement 'clones of autechre' seem unfair as this e.p. must of had just as powerful an effect on today's hype-rprogrammers. melodically autechre is probally the greater influence as the twin's melodies are a bit too exuberant compared to the clones, but the rythm programming on h.a.b.1 must of been a huge ifluence on these guys. also on this subject...i probably would have bought the new solar x lp but a friend played me some tracks off it that were such rdj rip-offs that i felt mad at solar x for being such a copy cat. seriously, there is a track that sounds exactly like one of the darker tracks on rdj's 'girl/boy' ep. there's a fine line netween being influenced by someone and being a wanna-be peace to all- adrien _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
