Well folks, the monkeys at MMR deserve another plug, this time around Daniel has supplied an unreleased cdr-single with a new artist "Punk Monkey" added to the line-up, a remix of Fluoroscopic Kid's "Soft Drink Jihad (Guerilla Mix)," and three tracks by Aof23M.. The first three tracks by Army of the 23 Monkey's (you may remember "Live Improv at la Lomita Verde (excerpt)" on the Enter The Monkey Comp) are unusually abstract electronic improv sessions that unfold into smooth trancelike techno experiments. Imagine Office Products meets the Orb and you have a vague idea where the sounds reside. Peculiar indeed.. The remix for Fluoroscopic Kid's "Soft Drink Jihad" is by far one of the most complicated IDM tracks i've heard in quite a while. Although i haven't heard the original track by FK, this remix is mysterious soundtrack music. Oddly amusing beats, strange sounds in the midst and atmospheric overtones makes this one an immediate favorite. Note: The limited edition (23 copies) version of the upcoming Neutral full length, "Font Translation Error," comes with a bonus cdr that will contain more tracks than what is currently available via MP3. But don't let the "limited quantity" tag deter you from looking into this fine project, "a note will encourage the buyer to mp3 the cdr and upload". MP3's of Army of the 23 Monkeys are available at the MMR website: monkey.eliteware.com/. Or check out the Aof23M and Jeff Lent MP3 at www.sonictherapy.com/mp3. Solenoid has also contributed a remix for MMR on an upcoming project on the Neutral lp, so stay tuned for that as well. Stop scratching your head and check out MMR now!
