This is an interesting point : being in South Africa, we only get to see local-content commercials and my husband, having a recording studio, is responsible for making quite a large number of them. He often gets told to do sound tracks "in the style of" but generally no original pieces are used, due to the copyright laws making it run to quite a high price. Usually they seem to have fairly up-beat techno noise tracks, or else kitschy-classic string sections - I remember fairly recently hearing a *total* Firestarter rip-off.
