tod put out _eight electronic pieces_ on folkways records
in 1961. next came three albums on owl records, which
were nicely reissued by starkland on CD a few years ago.
write to starkland at p.o. box 2190, boulder, CO 80306 for
more information, or search for the CD titles: _quatermass_
(st-201) and _apocolypse_ (st-202).

tod worked in both "concrete" and electronically generated
sounds. he used water, balloons, gongs, vacuum cleaner
hoses, a tube mixer, numerous tape machines, unstable test
tone generators, and a shitload of other tools to create
some of the most intricate and labor-intensive electronic
music ever.

he eventually lost access to studio facilities, and his music
was renedered obsolete by the moog synthezizer in 1968. but
the music is a hell of a lot more interesting than much of the
electronic music that has followed.
