i've been listening to the new jim o'rourke record 'eureka' on average about 2 times a day has anyone else? when i first got it i can't say i was that impressed, but now i think it's absolutely amazing. the more i listen to it the more i appreciate it. the production quality is super high, and the songwriting is of extremely high calibre, even the lyrics are cool. there are also some supercool tracks that would appeal to even an idm'er but don't take it too far, i'm not suggesting this record has anything to do with idm. it's just that a few tracks sound like fennesz a little bit, and justifiably so, i think he might even be on the record, i forget. regardless of that, this is definitely one of my favorite records of the year. i happened to be talking to richard devine today and he sang the opening lyrics of 'eureka' back at me, if you care to know what they are, "women of the world, take over, 'cuz if you don't the world will come to an end, and it won't take long" if you feel like puking don't get this record, it's a totally sentimental, introspective record, it's not lightweight in the slightest, imo this is what people are talking about when they say something is a quality record. furthermore, i recommend you not judge the merits of this record on the line i posted above. i really can't say enough good stuff about this record, sorry to interupt the usual idm talk. the new mouse on mars is wicked too, i picked it up last week and have been really satisfied, will post a review once things slow down, i'm going through crazy finals. love, kitDAN
