Well. I was in a local record shop after work today and noticed that they had the Deviant pressing of the new Paul Van Dyk & Toni Halliday 12". Since I've heard that Deviant has gone bankrupt (yeah, I know the same rumour was circulating a few months back, but this time, I've heard it from a couple of wholesale folks), I was surprised to see this, and I commented to the guy at the shop that it's a shame the label went under before the Witchman double CD collection of EP and compilation tracks was released. He smiled a weird little smile, reached behind the counter, and pulled out several copies of the release in question, "Heavy Traffic". Oddly, even though the copies he got came from his regular supplier, they're all marked "for promotional use only" - not just a sticker, either, it's printed right on the discs. While we can't be sure, he speculated that the label sold off their stock of promos before biting the dust, and given the scarcity of the release, it's most likely that a proper commercial pressing never took place. So... for those of you in the Toronto area, Rotate This on Queen St. W. had two copies of Witchman's "Heavy Traffic" in stock as of 6:30 PM today. If you get down there quick tomorrow, you might get yourself one - and unless the reports of Deviant's death have once again been greatly exaggerated, this may very well be your only chance. On a related note, once the impending postal strike up here in Canada has passed, I will probably put my collection of Witchman EPs up for sale. No offers yet, please, I'll let y'all know if & when they're up for grabs. Oh, and due to the same postal strike, I can't offer to pick up the remaining copies to send out to anyone. Sorry, kids. Greg
