Apologies for corss-posting, but I can't recall which list it was first mentioned on, but it was definitely mentioned. This Belong disc won't win any awards for originality, but what it lacks in that department it makes up for in emotive valency. It started off reminding me of a digital MBV meeting Fennesz and a glitchy Gas (the gauzy veiled part sans doof-doof kick). Then third track reminded me more of Eluvium's 'Zerthis Was a Shivering Human Image' than anything. Now it's staking a claim for its own unique voice on track 4 'I'm too sleepy... shall we swim?' Did someone say somewhere that this album was 'inspired' by the New Orleans experience of last year (I think it happened in October)?. Or was it more like with Basinski whose 'Disintegration Loops' was sort of endowed by him with concurrent/retrospective linkage with 9/11 rather than having direct 'inspiration' from it? All these melodic structures being sucked down as if in a vortex or submerged under processing... kind of a metaphor for the event...? alan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: xxx-xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx For additional commands, e-mail: xxx-xxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx
