just wanted to drop a note about the two new releases that will be coming out on the Tom Records label (you'll remember Tom released the Visor CD) Summer_dsp 10" "...the record features two tracks, each on one side, the two sides of the ten inch making one whole. on white vinyl with a total of 19 minutes. the music is a very particular definition of ambient, it is made of samples from james bond movie soundtracks that are totally hacked. It works with clip/skip-sounds like those Oval records but in a more rhythmic way... but not so jazzy. the tracks are made of long loops that are modulated and that demand a listeners attention to follow the slight changes in the overall process. it has a very special atmosphere that reminds of gamelan sounds, down south pacific..." -and- Novisad long play CD. "...Kristian Peters from Rostock... can be seen as an intersection of Oval, Curd Duca and Basic Channel. it's all made of loops that are modulated with care, very very intense, rather to be seen as techno but not dance compatible (with titles as membran, methdecorre, monotau and so on). an "under construction" webpage can be found at: http://kaki.cjb.net np: summer_dsp - cdr ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karaoke Kalk http://members.aol.com/volumunits/karaoke_kalk.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------
