Thanks for the reminder, Quincas. I had forgotten about the strange = choices that Digidesign made when designing their audio hardware. I = believe that they were motivated to keep their devices proprietary so = they could double as software dongles. I certainly noticed that their = hardware causes all kinds of strange issues with audio software, even = after the proprietary drivers have been installed. As for me, I completely avoid Mbox and other Digidesign (now Avid) = hardware. That probably explains why I don=E2=80=99t run into = professional devices that aren=E2=80=99t USB Audio Class (UAC) = compliant. So, I=E2=80=99m still curious whether any other (besides Avid) = professional audio hardware is USB based but not fully USB Audio Class = compliant. Brian p.s. Although the Mbox 3 is not exactly low quality, I=E2=80=99m sure = you=E2=80=99ve noticed that Avid will sell you $10,000 worth of hardware = to improve the audio quality compared to the Mbox.
