Well, now we're really getting digital. Bu hopefully enough people are interested anyways, it's great for techno. Roland calls this type of function "RPS" or Realtime Phrase Sequencing. It was first introduced in the MV-30 Studio M, currently it is featured in the sequencer of XP-50 and XP-80. Basically, you assign a sequenced phrase to any MIDI note number. Press a key and it triggers the phrase. So it's kind of like mixing beat loops and phrases on a sampler, the phrase starts as soon as you hit the key. On the XP-50 and XP-80 you have th option to have the phrase trigger in sync regardless of your timing, the phrase starts exactly at the next beat. Maybe the MC-303 has RPS but I don't know, I haven't played with one yet. Need more info on this non-analogue topic? Let's move to private email.
