Well I certainly know that not everyone comes from the same background
and might not be as knowledgeable as some. So opinions will vary. Alot
of times the hype seems to be a group think, where lots of people
assume that it is slightly IDM sounding than it must be good.

And then there are some people that just don't want to take the time
to disagree, because they don't want to get caught in a thread or
waste the amount of time to state their opinion. I would prefer that
people were a little more critical, instead of flag waving because it
sounds sort of like something that is good.

I've also noticed in past threads that alot of people won't admit
their true feelings about a release, because they like the past work
of the artists. I remember one guy agree with me totally about
something, but thought he should say anything negative about the
release because of fear that he might turn off new people to the artist.

There is nothing wrong with saying this artist has done some great
stuff, but this particular ep or lp is not.

Agreed, I never buy things blindly anymore..unless it is an artists or
label that I generally trust. I've been disappointed to often to just
buy blindly. Still it surprises me what gets hyped....alot of it is
pretty weak. I guess some are desperate to find new stuff that fits a
IDM-ish format.

Yeah, but sometimes the bible thumping gets a little loud and is about
at trustworthy as tel-evangelists.
