Low key, yes. Poorly attended? Eh. I thoguht there were a fair number of people there considering it was a Sunday night and it was, well, Schematic. No disrespect intended but how many people in the New York area own or have even heard any of those records? Besides, based on the 2 Schematic parties in NYC that I've been to, it seems like they're content to keep things on the dl. >around 11:30 and Jeswa, I think, was spinning. He was wearing a >Kraftwerk Robots T and spinnning some electro that I didn't recognize. That wasn't Josh. We're still not sure who that was. Some friend of theirs from Miami, I think. He played a mixed bag, (labcoat electro, crunchy metallic shit, fungle) although mixed might not be the right word, because while I'm not saying train wreck, there wasn't really any flow. Entertaining enough though. Richard Devine? Pretty damn good, despite the power problems. After Devine came DJ Aura? Ora?, I think? Hey, by that point it was kinda loud and we were enjoying ourselves a little too much so it's kinda hard to say. Whoever he was he rocked it. Electro. Dynamix II and Phoenicia sound really good really loud. Nice groove. Had to leave before Jeswa, and another live PA by some girl who was supposed to jam on a QY-70. >Why did no one else go to this show? There were maybe 9 or 10 people >who looked to be random IDM listers like me, and there was a group of Um, I'm sorry, I got an extension so I didn't have to hand in my report right away. But I did some extra credit (see below). Seriously though, what does a random IDM lister look like? I doubt when people see me they think, 'Hey she looks like she wades through hundreds of emails about whose city is shittier and which magazine has the best gurner of the month (Muzik!) just to read Lance's record reviews.' Pass the porn please. Right, so what follows is my attempt at a contribution to the list. A few reviews... Various Artists - The West Coast Sound of Electro (Bunker 3000). More filthy low-fi electro from Den Haag. If Logan's Run were a porn flick, this would be the sound track. Electronome, Pamtex, Lego Welt, and more (!), seek this one out. (2x12) Various Artists - Fit for Heroes (Riot City). Superbly produced spacey and bassy, a couple of electro slow jams, a couple of movers, and a bunch of nasty little lock grooves. Think Electrecord (Third Electric, Klystron, KoLute) and Riot City. Stylish gatefold sleeve. (2x12) The Freek - Martian Leaders O.E. (Electrocute). The 2nd release on this label and I can't wait for number 3. I'm feeling Dopplereffekt or maybe more Drexciya here. And some Le Car. Creepy new wave-ish. A touch of Electron Industries on the flip. Nothing revolutionary, but really tight and really good. Mystery Man - Electric Activity (Overdrive). Wow, Mystery Man, been listening to Anthony Rother? Cool. -Christina
