First, the memory is fed with whichever is higher out of the battery and the 5V power rail - if the battery was 6V then it would supply the memory ALL the time, until the battery was discharged! Secondly, the battery low indicator has a threshold of 1.9V - far too low for a 6V pack. Hope this helps! Steve L. Benden Sound Technology
