Google gave me the old link (which still functions). > > Much easier just to wait for the eventual Doepfer clone. (The trend is > > obvious, ain't it, Petey?) > > That was nasty... It really wasn't meant to be. Doepfer's website says that its 2 new A-149 modules are only the first of the SOU range, so there is a clear intent to copy at least some of the Buchla modules. For better or for worse, Doepfer seems willing to take the best ideas from anyone & anywhere. Want to clone the Trautonium? Doepfer's got you covered. Want some Vactrol-based stuff? They are going there, too. Want a sequencer with random and CV-addressable stepping, but can't spring for a Milton? Guess whose A-154 has those functions? I'm not being judgemental. Some of this gear isn't readily available elsewhere, so you could call this "influence" a great service to synth users. And, I could easily be wrong about the inspiration for some of the modules. The bottom line, though, is that Doepfer's line is expanding to include just about every feature known to synthesists. (I know that's an exaggeration, so please don't bother flaming me for that.) -- john <--(Watching for Doepfer's PSIM-1 clone. Should be any week, now. Okay, *that* was nasty.)
