hey all. as an idm newbie wading through all yer posts for the first
time, I must say that I was damn pleased to come across one of rap's
best duos, namely Pete Rock & C.L. Smoove. although I've been immersed
in idm for five years now, I still listen to all sorts of music and hold
mr. Pete Rock in the highest of regard. while not necessarily an ace
dj, he's one hell of a producer that consistently created smooth sounds
and used unique samples when the duo was at their peak several years
back.

to get to the point, I would highly recommend "Mecca and the Soul
Brother" for yer collection, whether you're high on rap or not, but
especially if you like jazzed-out souled-out hip hop with excellent horn
samples. ("T.R.O.Y." is on this album.) while I'd naturally endorse
all their stuff, "Mecca" is the most essential and influential. just a
great sound, great production values and positive, inspiring lyrics (no
gang banging bullshit, etc.).

pedro, if you dig "Go With the Flow," get the rest of their catalog,
'cuz as decent as "Flow" is, it's early stuff for them and they only
refine and improve their sound over their next two albums.
unfortunately, Pete & C.L. parted ways nearly two years back, and I have
no clue as to what they're up to. a shame, because Pete's got skillz.

in terms of this 12", never heard of it before, but it ain't new. need
to get a copy for myself. could ya e-mail me privately with the
specifics as to where you saw it? tx.

well, that said, none of it is idm. my apologies, but hey, I didn't
start this string.

so let's talk sean and rob. what's all this 'bout them tackling mark
and tom in some sort of reload-download duel? since I just got on the
list, this has probably already been discussed ad nausea. could someone
bring me up to speed? many tx.

still looking for a clever on-line moniker...

maybe Blissed1. or OP8U4EA. for now...
